Hair Thickening SMP

For SMP density treatments, it is not necessary to shave your head. Unlike the SMP shaved look, where a closely shaved head is desired, SMP density treatments aim to create the illusion of thicker and denser hair by adding pigment to the scalp around the exisiting hair follicles. In most cases, you can keep your existing hair at its preferred length during the procedure.

However, we do recommend to cut your hair to the shortest length that you aim to wear your hair as this allows for better visibility and precision during the treatment. We will work with you to determine the optimal hair length that ensures effective results while maintaining your desired style.

The level of discomfort during the SMP density treatment is generally minimal. Most clients describe the sensation as mild and liken it to a slight discomfort or tingling. We can apply a topical anaesthetic to minimise any potential discomfort.

The duration of the SMP density treatment depends on various factors such as the size of the treated area and the desired density. Typically, each session takes a few hours, and requires 2 to 3 sessions to achieve the desired results.

SMP density treatment provides long-lasting results. However, the longevity can vary depending on individual factors, such as skin type, sun exposure, and lifestyle. With proper care and maintenance, results last for several years before requiring touch-up sessions.

Unlike traditional tattoos which are deposited deeper into the skin, SMP scalp micropigmentation fades over time. As your hair transitions to grey, the color of the tiny SMP dots will also soften over time. This gradual fading ensures a natural appearance and allows for a seamless blend between your grey hair and the pigmented dots. The fading process aligns with the gradual greying of your hair, so the transition should not pose any issues.

Regular maintenance and touch-ups are recommended to maintain the desired results. However, if your dark hair starts turning grey, you have the option to skip or delay touch-up sessions. This approach allows the SMP results to be less prominent than when your hair was dark, blending harmoniously with your evolving hair colour.
